Hasbro’s Lost and Found: Transformers Games on Xbox Game Pass

Newscast: Our most anticipated games for the rest of 2023

Hasbro, the beloved creator of the Transformers franchise, is eager to bring its older video games to Xbox Game Pass. However, there seems to be a little snag. You see, Activision, the company responsible for developing and publishing many of the iconic Transformers games, seems to have misplaced them somewhere in their vast archives. It’s like a real-life game of hide-and-seek!

These games, including the fan-favorites Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and Transformers: Devastation, hold a special place in our gaming hearts. We’re dying to dive back into the Autobots and Decepticons’ epic battles before the release of the eagerly anticipated Transformers: Reactivate, developed by the talented folks at Splash Damage.

But alas, finding and playing these classic titles has become a near-impossible mission. Buying copies of the Transformers games from the PS4/Xbox One era is not only a daunting task but also a heavy burden on the wallet. And the further back in time you go, the more futile the search becomes. It’s like trying to find the lost Ark of gaming treasures!

Now, Hasbro hears our cries for the return of these beloved games. In an interview with fansite Transformer World 2005 at San Diego Comic-Con, a Hasbro representative sympathetically stated that they understand fans’ desire to rekindle their love for these older titles. They even suggested that adding them to Game Pass would be a piece of cake. However, there’s a small hitch. It seems that Activision is currently experiencing a severe case of “missing hard drive syndrome.”

You see, when a company eats a company that eats another company, things tend to get scattered and lost along the way. It’s like a game of corporate telephone, but instead of whispers, we get missing hard drives. Frustrating, right? Hasbro hopes that with the impending completion of Microsoft’s acquisition deal with Activision Blizzard, the company will spring into action and embark on a grand mission to scour every nook and cranny for these elusive games. We need a real-life Optimus Prime to come to the rescue!

Interestingly, Hasbro managed to salvage some of the game’s assets, which they used to design a thrilling new line of Transformers based on the games. For Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, they had everything they needed. But for Transformers: War for Cybertron, things got a bit tricky. Since Activision couldn’t find the necessary files, they kept sending concept art instead. But come on, Hasbro needs more than just drawings. They need the CAD files, the blueprint of gaming awesomeness.

So, what does this mean for eager Transformers fans pining for a nostalgic trip down Cybertron lane? Well, it seems we’ll just have to wait and see if these lost treasures will be uncovered once Microsoft’s acquisition deal for Activision concludes. In the meantime, keep those alloyed fingers crossed and hope for a gaming miracle!
