Baldur’s Gate 3 is not just a game, it’s a rollercoaster of emotions. It’s about balance, finding inner peace, and refraining from throwing your mouse and keyboard across the room when True Soul Nere kicks your butt in initiative. Brace yourself for the ultimate challenge in the Grymforge questline!

But hey, before we dive into the madness, let’s take a moment to appreciate Philomeen. She’s gone and left town in a hurry, making you follow her breadcrumbs through the Grymforge area. Because chasing gnomes is what heroes do, right? Trust me, it’ll be worth it in the end.

Finding True Soul Nere

True Soul Nere

First things first, if you want to find True Soul Nere, you’ll need to make your way to the heart of Grymforge. It’s not gonna be a walk in the park, so buckle up! Once you’re there, seek out the commander of the Duergar, the one and only Sergeant Thrinn. This guy will spill the beans about Nere being caught up in a blast. Talk about bad luck, right?

Now, the real challenge begins. You can’t just chat it up with Nere himself; he won’t spill the beans. Instead, you’ll have to gather intel from two different sources: the Deep Gnome slaves and the guard Duergar, Elder Brithvar. Persuade them, interrogate them, bribe them—do whatever it takes to learn more about the explosion and get one step closer to uncovering the truth.

Once you have the information you need, your quest to find Philomeen begins.

Where To Find Philomeen

Philomeen

Aw, look at Philomeen, playing hard to get! She’s taken off to a distant corner of the Grymforge area, leaving you with a riddle to solve. Head back to the docks area of Grymforge, where you came in from the Decrepit Village. Follow the waterfront, turn around a corner, and voila! You’ll stumble upon a chilling scene—dead gnome bodies. Yikes!

You’ll need to deal with two pesky Duergar who are messing around with those bodies. Talk them out of it or give them a gentle nudge to leave. And what’s behind those big doors? Philomeen, of course! But wait, there’s a twist. It’s not gonna be easy to reach her. You’ll have to spot a secret button hidden in plain sight. Find it, press it, and brace yourself for whatever lies ahead.

How To Free True Soul Nere

Freeing True Soul Nere

Congratulations on making it this far! Now it’s time to rescue True Soul Nere and show him that you’re the hero Grymforge needs. But be warned, it won’t be a walk in the park. Prepare yourself for a showdown with some slippery oozes, because you’ll need all your spells and wits intact.

Once you’ve made it through the monster mash, ascend to the top of the room and take a leap of faith across a treacherous gap. You’re almost there! Pass through the double doors, and tada! Philomeen awaits.

She’s got something explosive up her sleeve—a bucket of Runepowder. Convince her not to blow everyone sky-high and secure a vial of the precious stuff. You’ll need it to complete the quest, so handle it carefully. Now, it’s time to head back to the main area of Grymforge with your newfound prize.

It’s Decision Time!

Decision Time

With the Runepowder in hand, it’s showtime! Make your way to the rubble where Nere and the gnomes are trapped. Now, here’s a pro tip—if you want to engage in a boss battle with Nere, have a chat with Elder Brithvar. If not, skip the small talk and proceed directly to the explosive part.

Throw the Runepowder vial at the rubble and watch it cling onto the rocks. Keep those innocent gnomes at a safe distance, then unleash your inner firebug and ignite that fuse! Boom! The rubble breaks apart, and Nere emerges with two Deep Gnomes. But hold on a second—Nere isn’t playing nice. He takes out one of the gnomes right off the bat.

Now it’s decision time, hero. Choose your path: – Side with Nere and the True Souls to take on Brithvar’s rebellion. – Stick with Brithvar and fight Nere and Thrinn. – Turn your back on everyone and go for a three-way brawl with Nere, Thrinn, and Brithvar.

The choice is yours, and the fate of Grymforge hangs in the balance.
